Twisted Winter Wood is a collection of essays spliced into ‘HOW THE PARK MAN SHOULD BE PREPARED TO MEET THE PUBLIC’, a 1953 memo from the Forest Preserves of Cook County. In the  amorphous blob of hastily constructed mid-century development that stains the once openlands around America’s third largest city, the Forest Preserves holds and protects land from development; and and for those lucky vehicle owning individuals offers solitude and a glimpse of the kinds of landscapes that used to dominate the Great Lakes’ borders. Herein are musings about walking through those woods in the winter- a time that empties the forest of leaves,  visitors, and the fucking beer drinking fisherman.
